Local charities and community service projects

A 501c3 that thrives on generosity

Kiwanis Charities, Inc. is a tax-exempt organization under 501c3 of the Internal Revenue Code. We hold event earnings and donations in this arm of our organization for use toward philanthropic projects.

When you donate to Kiwanis Charities—whether it’s your time or money— you’re investing in your community and the children who call it home. Every penny of your contribution is tax-deductible and goes toward helping the kids.

Looking for a local charity that needs and values your support?

What kind of volunteer opportunities does Kiwanis Club of Memphis offer?

Awesome ones, of course! All of our projects, events, and donations are evaluated by the Kiwanis Club of Memphis board and the Kiwanis Charities director to make sure they align with our mission to serve local children.

How Kiwanis of Memphis helps kids

Adopt-A-School—Kingsbury Elementary

Volunteers read to students at lunch to help them improve their reading scores. We also assist with book fairs, provide bikes for reading program winners, and help purchase school uniforms.

Wheelchair ramp building

We partner with Habitat for Humanity to fund and build ramps for kids to have easier access in and out of their homes.

Camp Phoenix

Every year, we sponsor dozens of youth from the Boys and Girls Clubs so they can attend summer camp at Camp Phoenix.

Food for Kids BackPacks program

We provide financial support and help pack boxes of food for the Mid-South Food Bank’s backpack program. Backpacks contain enough nutritious food for six meals.

The Eliminate Project

As Kiwanians, we partner with UNICEF to raise money for lifesaving maternal and neonatal vaccines, health education, and safe birth environments for some of the world’s most vulnerable populations.

Key Club and Key Club scholarships

We sponsor Key Clubs at White Station and Overton high schools and award college scholarships to graduating students. We also support a Key Club summer leadership program.

City of Memphis Parks and Recreation

We volunteer to help make our parks and playgrounds safer and more beautiful for kids to enjoy.

AutoZone Liberty Bowl Water Boy program

Each year, we sponsor several children so they can attend an exciting Liberty Bowl college football game.

Annual golf tournament

We sponsor a golf tournament to raise money for our projects and events. Special Olympics athletes participate and lend us a helping hand.

“We value community—our neighborhood community and our club community. It’s rewarding to be involved in something bigger than ourselves and be passionate about it.”
